In Zona Sur it is probably a little tougher. Perez Zeledon might have more opportunities because it is a more significant city. Though, I don't know there is defiantly interest in Buenos Aires. In Boruca, however, there's not much work for an ex-pat.

Found your blog and wanted to tell you that I was excited to hear about your work in Boruca. My husband is from Villa Hermosa (uphill from you) and we visit periodically throughout the year. I have done ethnographic fieldwork in Buenos Airies, Boruca, Salitre, Turrialba and Villa Hermosa. Too bad we didn't cross paths... We would like to move back with our family in the next few years. It would be helpful to know what employment opportunities exist in the area for teaching English (I think Buenos Aires is a bit easier to negotiate...) Any advice you have might be useful.

Hello! My name is Ashley... I was your student aide from the high school in 2007. I was going through my things and found the card you gave me so I decided to check out your website. The volunteer work seems to be pretty exciting. The pictures of Africa were beautiful! Well, I hope all is well for you!

Well, there's also the "pegas", and the "aires" you can get in your back, your eyes, your ears, those unexplained malaises. In Costa Rica, air is deadly, or at least, highly uncomfortable.
